Candidate Placement: After completing an International Search and mapping the key markets a long list of candidates were identified and approached. After initial approaches a number of suitable candidates were Long-listed and second round interviews were completed. A shortlist of candidates were presented to the client and Nexus Point International completed the Interviews with the client face to face which led to an offer being accepted by the candidate.
Job Title: Chief Operating Officer
Reports to: CEO Department: Operations
Purpose: · The position is key member of the Management Team, · COO will support organizational goals for growth & sustainability, · Drive Operational efficiency across MDO’s investments, · Nurturing of local talent.
Accountabilities: · Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures · Set a comprehensive goal for performance and growth · Establish policies that promote company culture and vision · Oversee daily operations such as exploration, mining, investments, marketing, sales, financing of projects, JVs and Subsidiaries. · Participate in expansion activities, such as investments, acquisitions corporate alliances ect. · Achieve organizational KPIs, · Manage relationship with all stakeholders. · Closely monitor progress of concessions and statutory approvals, · Actively develop operational benchmarks for business excellence, · Develop annual budgetary plans aligned to MDO’s long term goals, · Identify competency needs and develop plans for imparting the same to local workforce, · Assist Business Development initiatives of the organization, · Oversee operational performance of MDO’s assets
Competencies: · Strong interpersonal & leadership skills, · Business & Technical knowledge, in the field of mining · Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development. · Experience in fundraising will be a plus · Wide range of the mining industry networking and knowledge. · Team Building and people skills, · Possess person qualities of integrity and credibility, · Flexible and able to multi-task, · Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving · Strong Commercial & Financial skills.
Graduate degree in Mining or similar field is essential. Post Graduate qualification in Economics or MBA will be a distinct advantage, · At least 15 years of relevant experience in operations in the Mining Industry out of which 5 years should be in a senior management role, · Result oriented, · Proficient communication skills, · Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic will be a distinct advantage.
